Description
Between July 2022 and March 2023, our performing arts season explores the possibilities of technology and art, and showcases new forms of live and virtual performance. .
Highlights include our flagship annual music festival Freespace Jazz Fest, Phygital D, an innovative series of dance events in physical and digital worlds, the media art experimentation lab TechBox, and Magic Tea House – the first-ever Cantonese opera production featuring robotics and AI technology.
The season culminates in a month-long festival of avant-garde multisensory experiences from February to March 2023. Taking place indoors and outdoors around the district, the festival includes experiential installations, performances, games and workshops opening up thought-provoking new perspectives on technology, art and everyday life.
During the festival, the Art Park is transformed by large-scale immersive installations such as Borealis, a vibrant recreation of the Northern Lights by Swiss artist Dan Acher. At Freespace and the Xiqu Centre, alternative imaginative worlds are brought to life through workshops and talks, interactive installations, online game streaming sessions and game art, and a metropolis-building experience for children that plays out in the simulated virtual world.
Join us this season and experience the future of technology and performance. Full programme details to be announced soon.
