As Hong Kong’s global museum of visual culture, M+ is dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
The Special Exhibition “Madame Song: Pioneering Art and Fashion in China”, in particular, brings to light Madame Song’s fascinating multiple identities and professional pursuits. It chronicles her life and practice from the 1950s to the early 2000s and unveils Song’s thus-far overlooked and underestimated influence on China's transformation into the cosmopolitan and culturally diverse society it is today.
In the guided visit led by the museum educators, participants will discover Madame Song’s multiple identities through objects from the 1980s to the 2000s including garments from prominent fashion designers, movie costumes and footage, artworks and rare archival materials. The tour will also investigate the development and transformation of women’s identity and lifestyle in modern society. Following The tour, there will be an interactive workshop for participants to explore different roles and identities they play in life which help increase their sense of self-worth. Participants are welcome to stay at the museum after the activity to visit other galleries.
