    Short description
Drama educator Hollis Ngai Ho-lun shares how the incorporation of drama elements into the local induction programme can aid integration, communication and confidence among newly-arrived children
    Description

2021 Arts Impact Fellowship awardee Hollis Ngai Ho-lun shares the findings of his fellowship research project The Minority Linkage: Educational Drama Programme for Newly-arrived Children.

Having witnessed the positive effects of early exposure to drama education on children’s growth, communication and confidence, and its benefits in helping young immigrants integrate with their peers, Ngai has developed a rider component to support the current new immigrant induction programme. Through class observation, trial drama lessons and in-depth interviews with professionals, Ngai compiles his discoveries and sheds light on how drama education and collaboration with local community centres can generate positive social inclusion and help children from minority backgrounds adapt to new surroundings and establish stronger bonds with the local culture and their peers.

The Arts Impact Fellowship, formerly the West Kowloon Young Fellows Scheme (Performing Arts), supports young artists, educators, researchers and arts administrators to develop pioneering initiatives that inspire change, community engagement and audience building.

This event will be conducted online via Zoom. Registered participants will receive a streaming link for the session.
