XIA is a Chinese teahouse that adds creativity to palace food culture. The Kangxi and Qianlong emperors made six visits to the south of the Yangtze River, during which they observed local customs and tasted regional delicacies. Inspired by history, XIA presents classic palace and folk dishes at affordable prices.
From Empress Dowager Cixi’s favourite sweet pea cake to braised duck with lotus seeds, the Qianlong Emperor’s best-loved stewed bird's nest to local specialities such as Chongqing noodles—at the Museum, visitors will not only enjoy the sight of palace tressures in the galleries, but also taste the delectable cuisines once relished by the imperial family.
