Student Matinees

Our Student Matinees are carefully curated programmes designed to provide students with intimate encounters with different forms of Chinese traditional theatre, to help them gain a deeper understanding of the art of xiqu.

Past events have included interactive programmes held in conjunction with West Kowloon’s Tea House Taster Performances in 2017 and a guided encounter with Peking opera that accompanied GuoGuang’s performance of The Ghost Seller in 2016. These specially designed productions offer students and teachers unique experiences that are level-appropriate both in content and length.

Sponsored by The D. H. Chen Foundation, Student Matinees return in 2019 after the opening of the Xiqu Centre.
