    The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA or the Authority) today announced the appointment of Ms Wendy Gan Kim-see as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (District Development) (DCEO (DD)). Ms Gan will assume duty in November 2021, reporting directly to the incoming Chief Executive Officer of the WKCDA (CEO), Mrs Betty Fung Ching Suk-yee, who will join the Authority on 15 October 2021.

     

    Ms Gan will bring invaluable experience to WKCDA in project development from planning, construction, marketing and branding, operations to property management. She was formerly the Executive Director of Pacific Century Premium Developments (PCPD) responsible for the overall sales and marketing strategies of the company’s property assets in Greater China, Japan and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining PCPD, Ms Gan headed the sales and marketing teams of Swire Properties, across its residential, office and retail portfolio. As part of the brand-building and placemaking strategies for development projects, she brought world-class performances such as Cirque du Soleil and exhibitions including master pieces from Centre Pompidou to Hong Kong. On the community level, Ms Gan makes contribution through board or advisory roles in various local and international educational institutions. Ms Gan’s professional experience and background will enable her to bring strategic insights not only from Hong Kong but from around the world to WKCDA.

     

    As DCEO (DD), Ms Gan will oversee the development and delivery of the infrastructure, arts and cultural facilities, and supporting facilities in the West Kowloon Cultural District (the District). She will also have lead responsibility for formulating the overarching strategies for driving business development and for the Hotel, Office and Residential and Retail, Dining and Entertainment developments in the District.

     

    Mr Henry Tang Ying-yen, Chairman of the Board of WKCDA, said, ‘Wendy will strengthen our management team at WKCDA, with a goal to build West Kowloon into the arts and cultural hub with the most diversity and vitality in the world. I have high expectations on Wendy for not just delivering the infrastructure of the District, but also formulating the strategy to generate steady revenue streams from the tangible and intangible assets of the District and at the same time contributing to the local economy and the community.’

     

    Ms Wendy Gan said, ‘I am greatly honoured to be appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (District Development) of the Authority. I look forward to working with the fantastic team at WKCDA and progressively build an iconic arts and culture hub in Hong Kong for the global stage.’

     

    The DCEO (DD) is a newly created position responsible for leading and overseeing the development of the District and day-to-day operations, including Project Management, Business Development and District Operations, with a view to creating better functional synergies and achieving higher organisational effectiveness.

    The West Kowloon Cultural District is one of the largest and most ambitious cultural projects in the world. Its vision is to create a vibrant new cultural quarter for Hong Kong on forty hectares of reclaimed land located alongside Victoria Harbour. With a varied mix of theatres, performance spaces, and museums, the West Kowloon Cultural District will produce and host world-class exhibitions, performances and cultural events, providing twenty-three hectares of public open space, including a two-kilometre waterfront promenade.
