Return in December 2023 for a highly anticipated rerun at Xiqu Centre in the West Kowloon Cultural District
The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) is delighted to announce that The Impossible Trial – a musical, the first Cantonese musical commissioned by the WKCDA and co-presented and co-produced by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (HKRep) and WKCDA, received multiple accolades at the 31st Hong Kong Drama Awards Presentation Ceremony held on 14 June 2023 including Best Production, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Lyrics and Best Original Music (Musical).
The 10 awards received by The Impossible Trial include:

- Best Director (Tragedy/Drama) (Fong Chun-kit)
- Best Leading Actor (Tragedy/Drama) (Jordan Cheng)
- Best Leading Actress (Tragedy/Drama) (Tunes Ting)
- Best Supporting Actor (Tragedy/Drama) (Clinton Zhang)
- Best Stage Design
- Best Sound Design
- Best Lyrics
- Best Original Music (Musical)
- Outstanding Production of the Year
The Impossible Trial broke the record of the Hong Kong Drama Awards since its inception in 1992 with 15 nominations, the largest number of nominations in the event’s history.

The Impossible Trial – a musical was conceived, created and staged by an all-star local team, with a captivating story featuring music by Leon Ko, lyrics by Chris Shum, a script by Cheung Fei-fan, direction by Fong Chun-kit, and stunning performances by a multi-talented cast. Following its premiere in 2022, The Impossible Trial will return to Xiqu Centre in WKCD in December 2023 for a highly anticipated rerun. The Hong Kong Drama Awards, launched by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies in 1992, is an annual event that recognises outstanding local dramas and performers and encourages industry practitioners to enhance production quality and present more outstanding works to the public.
