    The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) fully supports the Hong Kong WinterFest happenings organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) in the West Kowloon Cultural District (the District). To facilitate holiday celebrations, WKCDA wishes to call the public’s attention to the special opening arrangements of our two museums on Christmas Eve and the Christmas holidays as follows:

     

    • M+ will stay open on 25 December (Sunday) till 6pm and be closed on 26 December (Monday) 2022.
    • The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) will be closed two hours earlier at 6pm on 24 December (Saturday) and will extend its opening hours for two hours to 8pm on 25 December (Sunday) 2022.
    • Subject to the actual circumstances, Museum Drive and Cultural Drive will be closed by the Police on 24 December starting from 7pm. Crowd management measures will be implemented in the District depending on crowd conditions over the holidays.

    2. Crowd management measures and special traffic arrangements

    In anticipation of a large number of visitors gathering in the District to celebrate the Christmas Eve and the Christmas holidays, special crowd management measures and traffic arrangements will be implemented starting from Friday 23 December 2022 afternoon.

    Ticketholders of “HARBOUR THE SONIC - Let It Snow C AllStar Live 2022”, to be held from 23 December to 25 December in Wonderland, can arrive at the venue through the District’s West Gate Entrance via the foodbridge over the Western Harbour Crossing toll plaza (please refer to Annex). They are also advised to pay attention to the latest update on entry arrangements announced by the organiser.

    Museum Drive and Cultural Drive will be closed by the Police on 24 December at 7pm. All franchised buses terminus, bus stops, minibus stops within the operational area will be suspended. Car parks affected by the closure will also be closed. Details are as follows:

    • Museum Drive and Cultural Drive will be closed. Only vehicles with a valid permit will be allowed to enter and leave the closed area
    • All franchised bus terminus, bus stops, minibus stops within the operational area will be suspended
    10pm  
    • The slow lane on Austin Road West westbound near Nga Cheung Road and a section of slip road of Austin Road West at-grade eastbound leading to Austin Road West westbound will be closed
    • Vehicles on Austin Road West westbound will be prohibited from turning right into Nga Cheung Road northbound and will be diverted via Nga Cheung Road elevated road

    3. Car parking arrangements

    Please refer to the above table for the opening hours of the District’s car parks from 23 December to 27 December 2022.

     

    Drivers are reminded that their vehicles may not be able to leave the car parks in the District (except the car park at the Xiqu Centre) on the 24 December evening until the Police lift the road closure after the crowd disperses and traffic resumes normal, likely after midnight.

     

    The above crowd management measures, special traffic arrangements, and operation arrangements to be implement in the District may be further adjusted depending on the conditions at the time.

     

    The Authority strongly encourages visitors to take public transport to the District. Members of the public should follow the instructions given by Police officers and take heed of the signage and broadcasts at the scene. The Authority appeals to all visitors to exercise tolerance and patience, maintain appropriate social distance and stay alert to the latest traffic news through the media and the Authority’s announcements.

    About the West Kowloon Cultural District
    The West Kowloon Cultural District is one of the largest and most ambitious cultural projects in the world. Its vision is to create a vibrant new cultural quarter for Hong Kong on forty hectares of reclaimed land located alongside Victoria Harbour. With a varied mix of theatres, performance spaces, and museums, the West Kowloon Cultural District will produce and host world-class exhibitions, performances, and cultural events, providing twenty-three hectares of public open space, including a two-kilometre waterfront promenade.
