The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (The Authority) fully supports the Hong Kong New Year Countdown Celebrations organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) in the West Kowloon Cultural District (the District) on 31 December 2021 (Friday) to 1 January 2022 (Saturday). The Great Lawn of Art Park in the District will host an exciting outdoor party – the Hong Kong New Year Countdown Concert, while a countdown clock will be displayed on the LED facade of the newly opened M+, Asia’s first global museum of contemporary visual culture, for the first time for the public to ring in 2022. To facilitate ticketholders to attend the Concert and the public to celebrate New Year’s Eve, crowd management and traffic control will be implemented in the District on 31 December 2021.
1. Crowd safety management measures and special traffic arrangements
Ticketholders of the Hong Kong New Year Countdown Concert should refer to the event details and access information announced by the HKTB.
In anticipation of a large number of visitors coming to the District to celebrate New Year’s Eve and Countdown events, the following crowd safety management measures and special traffic arrangements will be implemented starting in the afternoon on 31 December 2021:

** Members of the public can exit from MTR Kowloon Station Exit E or MTR Austin Station Exit D and follow the directional signs to use the redirected route.
2. Car parking arrangements
Car parks in the District, except Xiqu Centre Car Park, will be closed for entry at 2pm on 31 December 2021. All vehicles in the Art Park (Zone E) Car Park, Zone F Car Park and Project Site Office Car Park must leave the District by 4pm on 31 December 2021, otherwise they can only leave after the crowd has been dispersed and traffic resumes normal when the Police lifts the road closure in the District, likely to be after midnight of 1 January 2022.

Adjustments to crowd safety management measures, special traffic arrangements and operation arrangements will be made at the time depending on the conditions in the District.
The Authority strongly encourages visitors to take public transport to the District. Members of the public should follow the instructions given by Police officers and take heed of the signage and broadcasts at scene. The Authority appeals to all visitors to exercise tolerance and patience, maintain appropriate social distancing and stay alert to the latest traffic news through the media and the Authority’s announcement.
