The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (the Authority or WKCDA) announced that with mutual consent between the Authority and Mr Duncan Pescod, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WKCDA, the Board of WKCDA approved the arrangement that the terms of employment for Mr Pescod as CEO will end on 28 November 2020.

The Honourable Henry Tang Ying-yen, Chairman of the WKCDA Board, said Mr Pescod has shown exceptional dedication and commitment in taking forward the development of the West Kowloon Cultural District (West Kowloon or the District) Project over the past six years.

‘Under Duncan’s strong leadership, the District gradually moved from construction phase to the operational phase, witnessing and achieving significant milestones in the development. During his tenure, the smooth commissioning of different arts and culture and construction projects, as well as Duncan’s determination to surmount numerous challenges have all laid a solid foundation for the District’s future development in the long term,’ said Mr Tang.

‘The departure of Duncan is a great loss to WKCDA. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank him for his dedication to the Authority and extend my gratitude for his outstanding accomplishments. Both the Board and the Management of WKCDA will sustain efforts to drive the West Kowloon Project forward with the aim of developing a world-class arts and cultural hub for Hong Kong,’ added Mr Tang.

WKCDA will commence an open and thorough search globally to identify a new CEO as Mr Pescod’s successor.

The Authority will seek secondment from the Government as interim arrangement. Announcement will be made in due course.

First joined the Authority as Chief Operating Officer in October 2014, Mr Pescod was appointed CEO of WKCDA on 3 August 2015, pursuant to section 7 of the WKCDA Ordinance (Cap. 601). He was re-appointed for a second term in August 2018.
