Yu Xiating

Yu Xiating is a playwright and the Deputy Director of Artistic Development at the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe. A graduate of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, she has written a number of prominent xiqu productions, including The Chairs (Kunqu), The Last Tobacco Shop (Shanghai opera), and A Night at the Inn (Yue opera). Yu is the recipient of multiple national awards, including the National Tian Han Dramatic Literature Award, as well as a beneficiary of the China National Arts Fund. Her works have been staged internationally in a number of countries, including Japan, Russia and Albania.
