Short description
Independent Hong Kong contemporary dance artist Wayson Poon works as a creator, performer and educator, and has conducted research and development in Europe and Asia. Between 2010 and 2014, he lived and worked in Beijing and established the dance company The Body Acts. Poon has explored and developed a movement language and practice that can be uniquely adapted to all bodies. This practice, known as OnthewayDance, combines eastern and western spiritual methodologies and is guided by Taoist notions of “Qi”, and the movement and meditation practices Liquid Body and 5Rhythms. Poon’s movement workshops have been presented in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. In 2016 Poon received the Hong Kong Arts Development Award for Young Artist (Dance). He was nominated for the Hong Kong Dance Award – Tom Brown Emerging Choreographer in 2018 and awarded the Asian Cultural Council Fellowship in 2019
