Professor Anna CY Chan has over thirty years of experience in the dance field as performer, arts educator, producer, curator and administrator, and currently she is the Dean of the School of Dance at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). She was the inargual Head of Dance at the West Kowloon Cultural District from 2014 to 2018 and served as a dance consultant from 2018 to 2019.
Professor Chan was the Chairperson of the Hong Kong Dance Alliance from 2006 to 2011 and the Vice-President (East Asia) of the World Dance Alliance Asia Pacific from 2007 to 2017, a Dance Advisor of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council since 2008, and a member of the Youth Square Management Advisory Committee appointed by the Home Affair Bureau from 2010 to 2015. She was awarded Hong Kong Dance Award in 2004, City Contemporary Dance Laureate in 2016 and the prestigious Hong Kong Dance Award for Distinguished Achievement in recognition for her indefatigable work in dance education, promotion of Hong Kong dance, and innovations in ways to create, present, and sustain dance in 2018. Currently, she serves on the American Dance Abroad inaugural advisory council, as a founding core member of Asia Network for Dance (AND+), as a member of the Programme Committee under Tai Kwun Cultural and Arts Company Ltd, and as an international industry advisor for Australia Council for the Arts. She was appointed Professor of HKAPA and as a Visiting Professor by the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing in 2020.
