A native of Singapore, Mrs Cindy Chua-Tay now resides in Hong Kong and spends a considerable portion of her time in New York City, where she has been part of the Guggenheim Museum since 2013. She was appointed to the museum’s Board of Trustees in 2015, making her one of the youngest and the first Asian board member for the Foundation. In addition to being a board member, Mrs Chua-Tay also sits on the museum’s Art and Museum Committee which works closely with all curators and museum directors across the Guggenheim network of museums on acquisitions, accessioning and deaccessioning, restoration and all things relating to the permanent art holdings of the museums; as well as on the Education committee which supports lifelong engagement with arts, museums and education.
In her teenage years, Mrs Chua-Tay was one of the pioneer members of the National Dance Company in Singapore and performed with the group before it eventually evolved into the Singapore Dance Theatre, the nation’s first professional ballet company. She was also involved with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and organized many of their annual fundraising gala dinners, and was also an active patron of Platform Projects, an independent non-profit organization which facilitated and acted as a catalyst for arts related projects. Together with her husband Liam, they have been supporters of the emerging arts scene in Singapore for many years and have been awarded the Patron of the Arts Award by the National Arts Council.
Mrs Chua-Tay has been an M+ Patron since 2021.
