Short description
Mr Yan Yong serves as Curator and Head of the Court History Department, Palace Museum. He is a member of the Museum’s Academic Committee and Director of the Museum’s Court Costume and Textile Research Institute. In addition, he is Secretary-General of the Textile Committee of the Chinese Cultural Relics Society, Vice Chair of the Collection Management Committee of the Association of Beijing Museums, and a reviewer of the Chinese National Social Science Fund. His areas of research include Qing imperial costume, pictorial textiles, and Ming and Qing dynasty textiles. He has curated numerous major exhibitions and authored or edited many publications, including Illustrated Dictionary of Qing History: The Shunzhi Period, The Splendors of Imperial Costume: Qing Court Attire from the Beijing Palace Museum, Classics of the Forbidden City: Illustrated Dictionary of Qing Dynasty Court Costumes, Highlights of the Palace Museum Collection: Textile and Costume (English edition), The Supreme Splendour: Textiles and Embroidery of Qing Court in the Palace Museum Collection, and The Palace of Heaven on Earth: Travelling Exhibitions of the Palace Museum. Yan has published over fifty research papers
Biography
Mr Yan Yong serves as Curator and Head of the Court History Department, Palace Museum. He is a member of the Museum’s Academic Committee and Director of the Museum’s Court Costume and Textile Research Institute.
