Biography

Specifying in leading, young and warrior dan (female) roles, Liu Hong-wah learned Cantonese opera from a young age, and trained under numerous Peking opera and kunqu masters from 12, and is a student of Cantonese opera director Lau Shun. In 2007, she received the Hong Kong Young Artist Award and Outstanding Young Performer Award (Hong Kong Arts Development Council). Graduating from The Advanced School Seminar Program of the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in 2013, she is active in performing and promoting new Cantonese Opera creations, and education. Recent performances include The Kingdom of Women, The Double-speared Luk Man-lung (cross-dressing role), Xiu Yaohuan and The Legend of the White Snake.
