Daniel Chu

Pianist, composer and producer Daniel Chu studied piano performance and songwriting at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he received a BM in Professional Music (Summa Cum Laude) at the age of 20. His piano teachers included Tim Ray, George Russell Jr and Kenny Werner. He is currently pursuing an MPhil in Ethnomusicology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong on the Hong Kong jazz scene. Chu has collaborated with musicians across many genres and is keyboardist with manvsmachine, an electroacoustic trio he co-founded with sound designer hirsk and drummer Blue Kwok. Most recently, Chu was one of the headliners at Freespace Jazz Fest 2021. His new work Game Play with the Freespace Ensemble was a sold-out performance.
